比賽時，千萬別在還沒跑過終點線前就自以為奪冠，比出勝利的手勢，因為當你一鬆懈，就會把即將到手的冠軍寶座給拱手讓人了！

英國《每日郵報》報導，日前美國喬治亞州亞特蘭大（Atlanta）舉辦的一場10公里的桃樹馬拉松賽（AJC Peachtree Road Race）中，一名33歲的參賽者班（Ben Payne），以第一名的姿態領先，在快到終點線時，他自認已經勝券在握，就自信滿滿地舉起左手食指，代表勝利的手勢，但沒想到就在他快要抵達終點線的那一瞬間，卻被後頭追趕的英國選手史可特（Scott Overall）超過，與冠軍失之交臂。

班事後表示，自己並未意識到自己在終點前放慢了腳步，而曾經參加過2012年倫敦奧運馬拉松比賽的馬拉松好手史可特則在推特上寫下：「很高興贏得了10公里的桃樹馬拉松比賽。一定要跑過終點線！」似乎是在暗示對手班不應該在終點前放慢腳步。
